About 3p Suite

3p Suite are an award winning close harmony a cappella trio, comprising of Martin Grundy, Andrew Jackson and Colin Eglin. Singing at festivals including The Hampshire Beer Festival, Basingstoke Live and various Country Fairs as roving singers, entertaining tea and beer tents, queues and stalls. We provide a unique experience for weddings, concerts and parties.

We perform a wide range of music including The Beatles, Britany Spears, Wheatus, Lewis Capaldi, Billy Joel and Jake Thackray to name a few and our distinctive style always brings an element of fun and humour to our performances.

Who Are We

3p Suite is an a cappella male voice trio from Basingstoke. We are three friends who have been singing together since 2010. Andrew is our tenor, Colin sings baritone and Martin supplies the bass. To suggest that we are middle aged is being unnecessarily kind to Martin.

Each of our voices has a different quality which makes it easy to pick out an individual vocal line. And yet we have been complimented by music festival adjudicators on how well our voices blend. It is a mystery to us how both things can be true, but they do seem to be.

We started off at local open mic venues and from there branched out into pub gigs, parties, weddings, country shows and festivals. We do a lot of work in aid of locally run charities and are always keen to sing whatever the occasion – even busking in Winchester.

Our choice of repertoire is democratic in that we all have a veto. We each have to agree that a song is worth performing due to the considerable effort expended on learning it in the first place.

Each member of the group brings special talents to the ensemble. Andrew is our internet guru and looks after all things web related. Colin is our technical genius and loves nothing more than tweaking the mixing desk. Martin provides the three-part musical arrangements.

A cappella singing is a real team sport. We encourage each other when some passage of the arrangement is causing difficulty, we forgive each other when we make mistakes, we share a great sense of humour, and above all we just love to sing.

What We Do

Our production is an intimate show of a cappella singing. We like to entertain with a wide variety of popular songs from the 1960’s to the present day. We sing funny songs and serious songs and serious songs with funny bits in them.

Audiences seem to be fascinated by our particular brand of live music precisely because it is performed without any instruments. They are so used to background muzak, karaoke machines and the ubiquitous guitar that they are simply unable to believe that unaccompanied voices can produce anything worthwhile. But they can and we do!

Listeners of all ages sit with rapt attention (sometimes open-mouthed) while we go through our paces.
Between songs we indulge in some witty banter, establish a rapport with the audience, and provide utterly fascinating insights into the provenance of our repertoire, the subject matter of the songs and facts about the original artists. We also talk about ourselves, how we put a song together and the pitfalls of performing a cappella.

Audiences leave our gigs uplifted having heard many songs that they already know (but in a different context), inspired by some they have never come across, entertained by our unique style, disappointed that the show is over, but above all amazed that just three voices can fill an hour with such musical delights
